Sources conflict — Tires:

  • "NO – whole or scrap tires" (prohibited list) and 4 free tires/year for residents, then $5 (rate table) (City of Edinburg – Landfill / Disposal Services page (current web page))
  • $5 tire handling fee for passenger tires up to 17 in. (City of Edinburg Code of Ordinances §51.101(C), Ord. 2011-3488 (2011))

Newer source: The city web page (current) is newer than the 2011 ordinance. Read together: tires are not buried in the landfill but are taken for a handling fee and shipped off site.
